The south of Bolivia is desert. But the range of mountains known as the Andes runs through the area, the peaks of which are more than 5000 metres high. There are a number of lagoons to be found there, some red, white or gree depending on the chemical composition of the minerals in the ground. This painting shows one of the lagoons which was home to thousands of flamingoes who were there against a backdrop of the most colorful mountain ranges and fascinating flora and fauna.
